Hank and Leila are Hoping to Adopt
As you try to make the best choice for yourself and the life you are carrying, we are glad that your strength and bravery have led you to consider adoption. Though this decision is a difficult one, we understand that you want the best for your baby. We hope to be the family you choose to provide a loving home for your child. About Us: We have been married for five of our eight wonderful years together. We are best friends and enjoy each other’s company. We are a team and look for the positive in every situation regarding each new challenge as an adventure. We very much desire to become parents, but are unable to do so on our own. When we found out about open adoption, we realized it is the right path for us. We would like to get to know you and welcome ongoing contact by letters, calls or visits. We are ready to devote ourselves to raising a child! As a stay-at-home-mom, Leila will spend quality one-on-one time playing games, telling stories and singing silly songs. The flexibility of Hank’s work schedule will allow him to take part in our child’s activities, from camping trips to team sports. We both have college degrees and know the importance of a good education. We want to provide every opportunity for our child to achieve his or her dreams, and will make a college education available as he or she grows into adulthood. By encouraging constructive play and curiosity, we hope to inspire a spirit of creativity and a love of learning that will last our child a lifetime. Above all else, our child will know that he or she is loved unconditionally! Hobbies and Interests: We met through a historical reenactment club. This interest inspires many of our hobbies, including Hank’s fencing and Leila’s glassworking. We are outdoor enthusiasts, enjoying nature walks in the woods, swimming, sailing, and kayaking. We look forward to teaching our child to splash along with us in the pool. We also have our creative outlets, such as Hank’s woodworking and Leila’s cooking and costuming. Most importantly, we enjoy spending time together. We look forward to playing games, painting pictures, and reading stories with our child over the many years to come. Family and Friends: Our families are very spread out, but we keep in contact through phone calls, emails and visits. They are supportive of our adoption plans and look forward to greeting our new addition. Our child will have many cousins to play with and go to amusement parks or museums. Locally we have a large circle of friends who have greeted our ideas of adoption whole-heartedly. Many have young children themselves and we look forward to all of our children playing together at backyard Easter Egg hunts or other parties and picnics. Our Home : We own our own home, which we share with a tank of tropical fish and two cats, Olivia and Isabelle. Our house sports a large porch and a big yard with lots of sheltering trees. The flower beds attract hummingbirds and butterflies every summer and the vegetable garden provides fresh vegetables for Leila’s homemade spaghetti sauce and pickles. We are child proofing the house and the nursery is already set up, with crib, and toys just waiting for a new tenant. Our Community: Our quiet family neighborhood is on the outskirts of Durham in central NC. We are lucky to live in an area that combines the resources of a city with the serenity of the suburbs. Our neighborhood is peaceful and safe, where children still go door to door at Halloween, or ride bikes while parents take an evening stroll. We are within walking distance to schools, with parks and strawberry farms only a short drive away. There are always lots of things to do. It is an ideal place to raise a family!
