Michael and Nadine

The Power of Teamwork
Ever since we met eight years ago, we have lived and worked together as a positive, playful and energetic team. Whether trying to set up a tent in a windstorm at the beach or install a kitchen appliance in our home, we maintain a sense of adventure and patience and try to laugh through the obstacles. We have been married for almost five years, now, and have met and overcome many new challenges.

Our teamwork was essential when, three years ago, we suffered the loss of our daughter in the eighth month of our pregnancy. Needless to say, this tragic circumstance was devastating, but our incredibly deep bond and dedication to each other got us through an extremely difficult and unexpected time in our lives. Our already unshakable relationship grew more meaningful as did our passion for life. The experience brought us the realization of how powerful love can be. Our lives and hearts are stronger than before and we have great love to share with our future child. We are committed to pursuing an open adoption and are excited about our new future.

When we are at last blessed with a baby to adopt, Nadine will take a significant amount of time off from work and Michael will be easily able to design a flexible work schedule, being that he is self-employed. We are resolved to be hands-on parents and to establish a very stable and loving environment for our child.

Introducing Michael
The youngest of four children, Michael grew up in a small southern California city called Camarillo. A great part of Michael's youth was spent enjoying the sun and surfing the waves; thus began a lifelong passion for fitness and the great outdoors. After graduating from high school, Michael moved to northern California to enroll in business college and pursue his dream of becoming a world class track-and-field athlete. One of his biggest dreams came true when he earned a place on the 1992 U.S. Paralympic Track Team and competed in Barcelona, Spain.

Michael is an intelligent, patient man who is loving, hardworking, and unfailingly respectful. His gentle manner is appreciated by all who know him. Michael strives to see the good qualities in everyone he meets, and brings out the best in people. He is a thinker who stays very calm under times of stress. He is also a big kid at heart and enjoys laughing, being silly and inventing new games (a favorite is 'two person roller hockey') and intricate obstacle courses. Michael is a person who genuinely wants people to be as happy as they can possibly be. He looks forward to the day he becomes a father and gets to share his happy heart with a new life.

Despite the fact that Michael lost 80% of his sight at the age of two, he has led an uncommonly active and successful life. Thus far, he has owned and operated two businesses. His current business, Finn Fitness and Wellness, is his lifelong dream come true. Michael is a professional fitness trainer, corrective exercise coach, and a nutrition and lifestyle instructor. He works with individuals who range in age from 12 to 83, all of whom have very diverse goals and plans. Michael takes the time to get to know each of his clients as unique individuals; his clients are rewarded by this dedication and by Michael's passion for improving their (and, consequently, their families') lives.

Introducing Nadine
Nadine grew up in Novato, California, riding her bike and skateboard anywhere and everywhere she possibly could. She is the youngest of two siblings. In grammar school, Nadine developed a love of playing basketball which carried on throughout middle school, high school and college. Nadine still greatly enjoys sports, and she is eager to share her enthusiasm with her future child. Like Michael, Nadine is young at heart and has a particular affinity for games. At the Finn Family Picnic that she and Michael host each summer, Nadine is famous for dreaming up elaborate and goofy relay races. Family members and friends regularly seek out Nadine’s playful spirit and fun ideas when planning their own parties, events and field trips.

Nadine is warm and caring and has a unique ability to sense how people are feeling. She knows when it is time to be quiet, and when it is time to be silly and make everyone laugh. Nadine respects all people and has great love, affection, and appreciation for her family and friends. Her selfless personality and lively sense of humor cause many people to want to spend time with her.

As a Special Education teacher for more than fifteen years, Nadine has worked with hundreds of students who have learning challenges. Nadine's combination of patience, compassion and persistence encourages her students to believe in themselves and become self-confident people. Her students trust that she cares about them very much. Nadine doesn’t allow her students to give up on themselves.

Having a passion for the outdoors, Nadine looks forward to spending many happy weekends exploring beaches, mountaintops and lakes with Michael, their new child, and the family dog, Summit. Nadine has spent time as a State Park volunteer and enjoys teaching others about the fascinating natural world. Many outdoor adventures and discoveries await Nadine’s family!

About Our Home
Our three-bedroom home is comfortable, cozy, and clean. We live in a pleasant neighborhood in sunny Petaluma, which is about 40 miles north of San Francisco. We share our home with a big, friendly, silly dog named Summit. Our garage has been converted into a professional fitness studio with a separate entrance, which means Michael has just a five-second "commute" to work each day. Our house is on a quiet cul-de-sac with very little traffic, and we are lucky to have several parks, playgrounds and walking/bike paths nearby. This is our first house, and we have made it a nice place to live. We recently finished re-landscaping the front yard and planting our first organic vegetable garden in our backyard. We enjoy doing house projects ourselves and most of them actually work out!

Family and Friends We are fortunate to have many immediate family members close by. Nadine’s mom lives in nearby Novato and is eager to cuddle and love our future child. Both of us have sisters who live in Santa Rosa with their families (which include nieces and nephews who are excitedly and patiently awaiting the arrival of their new cousin). We are blessed to have many close friends in Sonoma and Marin County as well as in the greater Bay Area. Each month, we set time aside for various gatherings which range from casual game nights, to family hikes, to holiday and birthday celebrations. We value our time spent with family and friends and cherish the experiences we share and the memories we make.

Activity Traditions
We are an active family who likes to work hard and play hard. Having a variety of appealing activities and events on our calendar to look forward to makes us happy. Every winter we rent our favorite log cabin in Lake Tahoe and spend time snowboarding at Northstar and snowshoeing in the backcountry with our playful dog, Summit. Our summers begin with a hiking/camping trip to a new destination of our choice, and end with an annual trip to Morro Bay for beach walks and boogie boarding. We also participate in annual foot races, including one, post-Thanksgiving, in Golden Gate Park, and one on Valentine's Day in Monterey. We make time to get away both as a couple and with family and friends. Making lasting memories with the people we love brings us great joy.

With Appreciation
Loving, learning and laughing are the three things that are most important to us in life. We wouldn't be happy or well without people around us that we love, and who love us. We are dedicated to leading positive, wholesome lives and to providing a happy and healthy life for our future child. We are very ready to pursue an open adoption and open our hearts to more love. We genuinely appreciate the time and thought you put into reading this. You may contact us at nfinn22@comcast.net or 707-766-6032 if you'd like.
